Door Lock Actuator Removal ↗

Numbered steps for when one door stops locking: door card off, pivot pin and latch cable released, three T30 screws (one hidden under the weatherstrip) out, then the lock/latch assembly comes out so the actuator can be separated and the mechanism lubricated.

Tools mentioned: T30 Torx, Phillips screwdriver, side cutters, cable tie, dry graphite lube

Door Lock Actuator Rebuild ↗

Cheap fix for early (non box-shaped) E32/E34 lock actuators: open the housing carefully around the circuit board and swap the worn DC motor for a same-size Mabuchi FC-280SA. Tedious soldering work; the author says to just buy a new actuator if you hate fiddly jobs.

Tools mentioned: Small wrench, pry tool, soldering iron, replacement Mabuchi FC-280SA motors

Only for the early actuator style.
