What owners did when this part was unobtainable, summarised from forum threads. Read the thread before you start. These are owner reports, not verified by EuroRelic or BMW.

SwapDifficulty: EasySeveral threads agree

Buy the complete S14 water pump instead of rebuilding the bearing

The bearing and seal shown in the catalog are NLA, so owners replace the whole pump. Several owners advise the BMW pump (catalog lists exchange pump 11511315211) over cheap aftermarket pumps; Laso pumps were reported leaking or wobbling after 3k-10k miles by some, while one owner had 30k miles on one. Do not over-tighten the belt.

Parts / numbers mentioned: 11511315211 (exchange water pump), Laso, GMB

Repair / rebuildDifficulty: HardSeveral threads agree

Rebuild the S14 water pump with a NOS bearing or through a pump rebuilder

Owners who kept the original pump found a NOS bearing and seal on eBay, or sent the pump to a local pump rebuilder. One shop could not source bearings and returned a pile of parts, so confirm the rebuilder has parts before they take it apart. Rebuilders named in the threads: Autofriction (Damascus, OR) and Flying Dutchman Waterpumps (Oregon), neither verified by us.

Parts / numbers mentioned: NOS bearing + slip-ring seal; autofriction.com; Flying Dutchman Waterpumps
