BMW E60 Fuel Pump Replacement – 2004-2010 5 Series – Fuel Filter ↗

Explains the two in-tank units (right pump/level sensor, left filter/level sensor) and how to reach them under the rear seat, release the quick-connect line and undo the lock ring with a proper spanner. Stop if the ring turns the filter body, because the filter can break and drop into the tank.

Tools mentioned: Fuel pump lock-ring spanner, 10 mm socket, flat screwdriver

Battery must be disconnected: the fuel rail primes automatically.
