How To Replace A BMW E36 Power Steering Fluid Reservoir & Hose ↗

E36 power-steering leaks usually come from the reservoir hoses, and the reservoir must come out to reach them, so both are replaced: empty the tank with a syringe, cover the belt, swap reservoir and suction hose with new crush washers, then refill with ATF and bleed.

Generic walkthrough for the ZF power-steering reservoir used on most BMWs since the late 80s: drain, release the hose clamps and mounting, fit the new tank and cap, refill and bleed. Demonstrated on an X3, with the same steps for older straight-outlet tanks.
