RetrofitDifficulty: MediumSeveral threads agree

E34 self-leveling (SLS) delete: loop the pump output and fit conventional rear shocks

Remove the rear SLS struts, accumulators, regulating valve and lines, and fit normal rear shocks and springs. Loop the pump's SLS output back to the reservoir (or join the lines, as the BavAuto delete kit suggests). Keep the original pump and steering box. Flush and refill (owners run ATF), and jump the ride-height switch on the rear sway bar so the camber warning stays off. One owner reported 3 trouble-free years. Sedan and Touring springs share rates; Tourings sit a little lower. Another owner planned the alternative: fit a non-SLS power steering pump, remove the piping and replace the shocks and springs.

Parts / numbers mentioned: BavAuto SLS elimination kit, rear ride-height switch jumper
